Histology of Pancreas

The pancreas is one of the large , extra intestinal digestive glands and like the liver it arises as a diverticulum from the gurt epithelium. The pancreas is the dupilex organ its organization reflects the union if two organs having entirely different functions.These are the pancreatic tissue proper forming a large exocrine aggregations of the light staining cells dispersed with in the exocrine pancreas .The exocrine portion produces digestive enzymes , where as the endocrine portion provides the hormones insulin and glucagon.

The pancreas is composed of a glandular parenchyma of epithelial cells in a delicate stroma (supporting frame work) of connective tissue.
